The NodeMCU M board produced by Doit is a compact and reliable WiFi development board designed to work seamlessly with NodeMCU V3 firmware. Using the open source NodeMCU firmware and development kit you can quickly build IoT applications with only a few lines of Lua code. The board is based on the ESP8285 chipset which integrates an ESP8266 core with a built in 1MB flash memory.

The ESP8285 is capable of operating at temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius and can directly run ESP8266 source code without modification. It uses an enhanced Tensilica L106 32 bit processor with on chip SRAM and delivers full WiFi networking capabilities. The module can operate as a standalone controller or as a slave device connected to another microcontroller.

When running applications the ESP8285 can execute code directly from external flash memory. A built in cache improves performance and optimizes data storage. The chip can also function as a WiFi adapter for other microcontroller designs through SPI SDIO or UART interfaces.
