- DC-DC Step Up Voltage Boost Converter MT3608 Module
- DC Converters
As a boost converter, the MT3608 increases voltage while proportionally reducing the available output current, since the total output power cannot exceed the input power. Depending on input voltage, output voltage, and thermal conditions, the module can deliver up to 1.5A continuous current, with peak capability up to 2A. The use of low-ESR ceramic capacitors instead of electrolytic capacitors improves reliability, eliminates aging issues, and allows for a compact design.
The MT3608 IC includes built-in over-current and thermal protection, ensuring safe shutdown when the module is overloaded or overheated.
Features
- High-efficiency DC-DC boost (step-up) converter
- Wide input voltage range from 2V to 24V
- Adjustable output voltage from 5V to 28V
- Maximum output current up to 2A (1–1.5A typical)
- Efficiency up to 93%
- Compact and lightweight design
- 25-turn precision trimpot for accurate voltage adjustment
- Low ESR ceramic capacitors for long-term reliability
- Built-in over-current and thermal protection
- Low-cost and easy-to-use module

How It Works
The MT3608 module uses a boost converter topology to raise the input voltage to a higher output voltage. The onboard multi-turn potentiometer allows precise adjustment of the output voltage. Rotating the potentiometer clockwise (CW) decreases the output voltage, while rotating it counter-clockwise (CCW) increases the output voltage.
The maximum achievable output voltage depends on the input voltage and load current. For example, with a 9V input and a 1A load, the maximum output voltage is typically around 20V.
