Features:

  • MAX7219 is a kind of integrated serial input/output common-cathode display driver. It connects a microprocessor and 8-digit 7-segment LED display, and can also be connected to a bar graph display or 64 independent LEDs.
  • Includes a type B BCD coder, multi-scan circuit, word drive period, and an 8x8 static RAM used to store data.
  • Only one external register is needed to set the current for each LED segment.
  • Convenient four-wire serial interface can connect to most general microprocessors.
  • Each data can be addressed and updated individually without rewriting the whole display.
  • Supports optional code decoding for each digit.
  • Only needs three I/O pins to drive eight digital tubes.

Note:

  • Do not reverse VCC and GND to avoid damaging the chip.
  • 51 SCM P0 port needs pull-up resistance; if your SCM doesn't have one, connect the data line to another port.
