Transistor NPN A42

The A42 is a high-voltage NPN transistor. When the base pin is held at ground, the collector and emitter remain reverse-biased (open). When a signal is applied to the base pin, the transistor becomes forward-biased (closed). It features a DC gain of approximately 40, making it less suitable for amplification but ideal for high-voltage switching applications.

This transistor can handle a maximum collector current of 500mA, making it suitable for driving moderate loads. To properly bias this transistor, the base current (IB) should not exceed 5mA. When fully biased, it can allow up to 500mA to flow through the collector-emitter path.
