- Temp + Humidity
- Temperature Analog Sensor TMP36GT9Z
- Temp + Humidity
Features
- Analog Temperature Output: Produces an output voltage proportional to temperature.
- Calibrated in Degrees Celsius: Temperature can be calculated directly from the output voltage.
- Low-Voltage Operation: Operates from a supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V.
- Low Power Consumption: Suitable for battery-powered and low-power electronic systems.
- Microcontroller Compatible: Can be read using an analog input on compatible Arduino boards and other microcontrollers.
Principle of Operation
The TMP36 provides an output voltage with a nominal scale factor of 10mV/°C and an offset of 500mV at 0°C. Temperature can be estimated from the output voltage using: Temperature (°C) = (Vout − 0.5) × 100 Here, Vout is measured in volts. For example, an output of 0.75V corresponds to approximately 25°C.
Applications
- Ambient temperature monitoring
- Arduino and microcontroller projects
- Environmental monitoring systems
- Temperature-controlled fans and alarms
- Educational electronics and prototyping
- Battery-powered temperature measurement devices
Pinout

For the standard 3-pin TO-92 package, with the flat face toward you and the leads pointing downward:
- Pin 1 (Left): +Vs — supply voltage
- Pin 2 (Middle): Vout — analog temperature output
- Pin 3 (Right): GND — ground
Confirm the pin arrangement against the manufacturer's datasheet for the supplied package.
Wiring
- Connect +Vs to a compatible 3.3V or 5V supply.
- Connect Vout to an analog input, such as Arduino A0.
- Connect GND to the controller's ground.
Simple Arduino Code
const int sensorPin = A0;
void setup()
{ Serial.begin(9600);
}
void loop() { int reading = analogRead(sensorPin);
float voltage = reading * (5.0 / 1023.0); float temperatureC = (voltage - 0.5) * 100.0;
Serial.print("Temperature: ");
Serial.print(temperatureC);
Serial.println(" °C");
delay(1000);
}
This example assumes a 5V Arduino with a 10-bit ADC and a 5.0V reference. Adjust the voltage calculation for your board's ADC resolution and actual reference voltage.
