The Arduino Motor Shield is designed to provide reliable and precise control of motors for a wide range of electronic projects. It allows you to control two DC motors with full control over speed and direction, as well as stop them when needed. In addition to DC motors, the shield can also drive one bipolar stepper motor with a current capacity of up to 2 A. Built around the L293 motor driver chip, the shield enables independent control of each motor channel, making it suitable for robotics, automation, and motion control applications.

Operation

Motor speed is controlled using PWM signals from the Arduino. By adjusting the duty cycle of the PWM signal, the motor speed can be increased or decreased smoothly.

Motor direction is controlled through digital input pins, and the current direction of each motor is shown using onboard indicator LEDs.
